The choreographer and visual artist Salvo Lombardo will present a few excerpts from his latest creation SPORT, specifically declined, in the form of a study, for urban space, on the occasion of the Attraversamenti Multipli Festival in Toffia, choreographer
The performance is characterised as a poetic act that identifies in the physical condition of the “fall” the existential dimension to question the ideals of perfection, performance, agonism and discipline of bodies, founded on principles of exclusion and conformity to precise social and cultural norms.
Specifically, Sport is an opportunity and a pretext to broaden our gaze on the very concept of the ‘performativity’ of the body, in both artistic and sporting performance. In this sense, sport is investigated as one of the various articulations of dominant power at the crossroads with the construction of identities: national, cultural, gender.
Lombardo \ Chiasma’s Sport is a renewed opportunity to re-discuss contemporary canons and imaginaries applied to corporeality in the West, attempting to unveil both the desperate attempt to resist “the fall” and the inevitable, necessary and at times “loving” acceptance of the decline: of a condition, of a system of narratives and in some ways of a world.

Bio
Salvo Lombardo is a performer, choreographer, multimedia artist and curator of performative projects. Over the years he has deepened research that ranges between dance, theatre and visual arts with particular attention to languages of video and relational art. Since 2016 he has been the artistic director of the Chiasma Company. He is currently associated artist of MilanOltre Festival and Lavanderia a Vapore. His works have been hosted and produced by numerous festivals, theatres, museums, and independent spaces in Italy and abroad.
