MONDI LONTANISSIMI (FAR-AWAY WORLDS) is an original musical project curated by composer Francesco Leineri and cellist Angelica Simeoni. The duo combines acoustic and electronic sounds, highbrow and lowbrow traditions, electroacoustics, folk songs and tape music: their research sabotages ethnomusicological practice, subordinating it to mystical and exotic neurosis. The duo imagines visiting distant worlds while simply sitting still, observing the representation of the current political world map and tracing travel routes that will never be taken. Reflection, a journey of the mind into the illusory Elsewhere, is accomplished in the surreal exposition of sounds belonging to places that have never been visited, between the fictitious and the real, translating into music the vain desire for travel within travel, the transience of the digital geographical present, the greatest presumption of contemporary human beings: the belief that we can be anywhere at any time, that we can subjectively intervene in the intangible and fleeting reality of everything.

Bio Artists
FRANCESCO LEINERI graduated in Composition from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and has refined his stylistic signature over the years through studies in orchestral conducting, electronic music and performing arts. A musician inclined towards teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration, he has developed a poetics closely linked to storytelling beyond music, drawing on traditional compositional forms that are then renewed in the heterogeneity of performance tout court. He has worked for public bodies, institutions, contemporary art foundations and private productions, receiving commissions and collaborating with, among others, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, RomaEuropa festival, Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, RAI radio3, Festival di Sanremo, Ikon Gallery, Culture Roma, Infinito produzioni, Sardegna Teatro, Margine Operativo, ANAD Silvio d’Amico and many others.
ANGELICA SIMEONI graduated with honours from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, under the guidance of Riccardo Martinini. She perfected her skills with Andrea Cavuoto, professor at the Ghedini Conservatory in Cuneo, and through masterclasses with Andrea Vio, Enrico Dindo and Giovanni Sollima. She continued her training with Francesco di Donna and Danilo Squitieri. Since 2014, she has been principal cellist of the Rome Youth Orchestra and a member of its Board of Directors. She has performed in Rome’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Auditorium Parco della Musica, IUC and Casa del Jazz, conducted by Beatrice Venezi and Michele Spotti, among others, and has performed at festivals such as the Ravello Festival and RomaEuropa Festival 2024. Since 2023, he has been teaching cello at the Liceo Musicale Complesso Scolastico Seraphicum. She has completed training internships in early childhood education and carried out various voluntary activities for community associations, senior centres and third sector associations.
