Presentation

MoDem is the language that Compagnia Zappalà Danza and the choreographer Roberto Zappalà have elaborated and codified in recent years.
The workshop on the MoDem Language, has as its starting point the three texts written by the choreographer himself “Corpo devoto”, “Corpo etico” and “Corpo istintivo”, now collected in a single text OMNIA CORPORA in which Roberto Zappalà explicates considerations and reflections in relation to his approach to choreography. The text collects notes and analyses concerning the constructive process of the choreographer’s creative work.

The most physical section of the workshop held by Filippo Domini consists of strengthening the body and mind through intense and powerful muscular work. The MoDem language is based on simple criteria, linked to flows, to harmonies, which the body exercises daily through a methodology that also tends to encourage contamination between the members of the working group.
The joints, the various sections of the body are selected and processed with a work that has the task of manifesting all the infinite possibilities of excursion that the limbs possess internally and externally and that can be explored, invented and multiplied day by day.
The animality of the body is an essential element in Zappalà’s work, like instinct, in which an apparent imperfection is identified, instinct and imperfection, both added values of movement in the choreographer’s vocabulary.
