Seconda tappa del progetto “Look me”, che indaga sul corpo esposto allo sguardo degli altri. Nella sua prima versione (“Look me – prosperity”) il lavoro, oltre ad aver circuitato in Sicilia è già stato ospite della Biennale di Venezia, al festival Tendance di Fondi ed ha toccato Roma in occasione di “Dance Out”. Per questo secondo capitolo è stato creato un abito realizzato con un “tessuto di luce” creato da Concetta Guercio per la sua tesi con il professor Vittorio Vicari all’Accademia di Belle arti di Palermo, dal titolo “Look me inside – Indagine e progetto sui tessuti tecnologici per il costume coreografico”
Una donna che non ha centro se non quello materiale, fatto di un tessuto che implica una difficoltà nella mobilità che va superata. Si impone un modo di sviluppare l’azione e il movimento che è frutto della difficoltà. Va svelata questa difficoltà. E si svela attraverso un percorso nell’ ombra che diventa chiaroscuro, fino ad arrivare alla luce, che la trasforma in una donna di vetro, mistica. La difficoltà la rende fragile come i rami di un albero che si adattano al tempo al clima, allo spazio, ma allo stesso tempo diventa forte quando si propaga la luce, quando l’attraversa, la mette in risalto. Si concede a chi è curioso di lei e sa anche ribellarsi, giocare, rinnovarsi, come una suite di danza che si compie nelle differenze ritmiche. Lei riflette gli altri attraversata dalla luce, diventa specchio di un’immagine, quella che vogliamo essere più nostra.
Lei traccia un percorso intimo di luce ed ombra proprio come siamo noi.
L’importante è guardarsi dentro, guardare dentro, guardarla dentro.
Second step for the project “Look me”, an investigation on the body exposed.
In its first version (“Look me – prosperity”) the show performed in Sicily, has been guested at the Venice Biennale, at the festival Tendance and in Rome on the occasion of “Dance Out”
For this second step the costumist Concetta Guercio has created a dress made with a “fabric of light”. The dress was created for her thesis with Professor Vittorio Vicari of the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, the title of the thesis is “Look me inside – Survey and project on technological fabrics for the costume choreographic ”
The show is based on a woman who has no center if not the material one, made of a fabric which implies a difficulty in mobility that must be overcome.
This difficulty imposes a way of developing the action and movement that is strickly connected to the dress. It is revealed through a journey in ‘shadow up to the light, which turns her into a woman of glass, mystical. The difficulty makes it fragile like the branches of a tree.
She reflects others crossed by light, she becomes a mirror image, the one that we want to be more ‘ours. She traces a path of inner light and reflect what we are.
The important thing is to look inside, look inside, look inside.
Giovanna Velardi, siciliana, nel 1997 si trasferisce in Francia, anno in cui risiede ad Avignone e lavora in residenza presso Les Hivernales d’Avignon. Ha lavorato con alcuni coreografi del filone della Nouvelle Danse Francese. Tra le sue creazioni citiamo la partecipazione come coreografa, assistente alla regia e interprete per l’allestimento dell’opera CARMEN al teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania direzione di Will Humburg, andata in scena dal 15 al 25 Gennaio 2012. Il progetto STRAW MAN realizzato tra Praga, Palermo e Marsiglia, in collaborazione con Dominik Barbier, le coreografie di Coppelia e Cenerentola per l’Orchestra Sinfonica di Palermo. La coreografia del’’Historie du soldat” di Stravinsky ai Cantieri della Zisa. Ha tenuto laboratori di danza contemporanea per il progetto Université grand sud.
Giovanna Velardi, from Sicily, studies in Italy and France. In 1997 she moves to France and works in Avignon with choreographers of the French Nouvelle Danse. In France she develops her tendency to work on improvisation trying to explore the quality of the movement. Among her creations and interpretations the choreography of Carmen for Theatre V. Bellini in Catania and the European Project STRAW MAN in PRAGUE, MARSEILLE, PALERMO, in collaboration with video artist Dominik Barbier. She is also the choreographer and Cinderella for Theatre POLITEAMA of Palermo with the Sicilian Sinphonic Orchestra and Historie du soldat of Igor Stravinsky at Cantieri della Zisa of Palermo. She was member of CID (International Dance Council) and founded the National Table for Contemporary Dance. She has held workshops of contemporary dance for the project Université grand sud in France.
