Contact Zones è un progetto internazionale si occupa di creare contatti e interazioni tra le arti performative, gli spazi urbani / i luoghi non convenzionali e le persone.
Contatct Zones è co-finanziato dal programma Europa Creativa 2015-2016 dell’Unione Europea, coinvolge 3 paesi: Italia, Germania, Regno Unito e artisti provenienti da diverse nazioni.
Margine Operativo è il coordinatore e il project leader di Contact Zones.
Il progetto Contact Zones sviluppa / amplia / approfondisce in una dimensione europea la ricerca artistica di Margine Operativo sulle relazioni / combinazioni tra le arti perfomative contemporanee, gli spazi urbani e il pubblico, ricerca che il gruppo persegue da anni con il festival Attraversamenti Multipli.
Contact Zones, come Attraversamenti Multipli, è un progetto che si muove sulle linee di confine tra differenti codici artistici e nelle zone di prossimità tra arte e vita.
Gli artisti, le performances, le residenze, la video box, i work-shop, programmati da Contact Zones a Roma, hanno tutti in comune la caratteristica di intrecciare tra di loro linguaggi artistici diversi, forzando in modo innovativo i generi da cui partono, meticciandoli e facendoli incontrare con altri linguaggi, con spazi insoliti e con nuovi pubblici.
Contact Zones @ Roma si propone come un organismo multidisciplinare, multisfaccettato e “meticcio” in cui hanno cittadinanza e dialogano tra loro diverse pratiche artistiche delle arti sceniche contemporanee e delle arti visive contemporanee: teatro, danza, performance site specific, musica, video, street art.
Contact Zones entra in contatto con Attraversamenti Multipli 2015 attraversandolo e proponendo all’ interno della parte del festival che si svolge open air negli spazi urbani di Largo Spartaco nel quartiere “fuori centro” e popolare del Quadraro a Roma dal 8 al 11 ottobre due performance site specific create per Contatct Zones da due ensemble internazionali + 3 performance site specific / azioni / happening di artisti italiani create appositamente per Contact Zones e per gli spazi che li accolgono.
Le 2 performance site specific internazionali vengono create attraverso 2 residenze artistiche dei 2 ensemble europei coinvolti che si svolgeranno negli spazi del Quadraro coinvolti dal progetto. Durante le 2 residenze questi 2 ensemble proporanno 2 work-shop, aperti a professionisti ma anche ai cittadini. Il lavoro dei 2 work-shop si intreccerà con le 2 residenze e con la costruzione delle 2 performance site specific: infatti i partecipanti ai work-shop saranno coinvolti nelle 2 performance / azioni.
Un’ altra “zona di contatto “ è la video – box urbana di Contact Zones che attraverserà tutti gli 8 giorni di eventi artistici di Attraversamenti Multipli raccogliendo le voci e i pensieri del pubblico e dei cittadini che incontrerà nel suo percorso, ponendo delle domande intorno al tema della “città ideale”.
Contact Zones @ Roma crea spazi di partecipazione attiva del pubblico attraverso:
– l’ utilizzo del blog e dei social network come “piazza virtuale”, uno spazio dove gli spettatori possono interagire
– il progetto Under 25 multitask che prevede il coinvolgimento di un gruppo di ragazzi e ragazze Under 25 come osservatori attivi e narratori multitask delle fasi del progetto
– la programmazione di perfomance e azioni artistiche co-prodotte dal progetto che prevedono nella loro costruzione residenze dinamiche e work-shop in interazione con i luoghi e con i cittadini che li abitano.

The Contact Zones project develops / amplifies / scrutinizes at a European level the artistic research of Margine Operativo on the relations / mixtures between contemporary performing arts, urban spaces and audiences. The group’s long involvement in this research is exemplified by the Attraversamenti Multipli festival.
Contact Zones, similarly to Attraversamenti Multipli, is a project running on the bordering lines between artistic languages and in the proximity zones between arts and life.
The artists, the performances, the residences, the video box and the workshops planned in Rome by Contact Zones, all share the same characteristic of blending different artistic languages, stressing in an innovative way the initial genres, cross-breeding them and making them meet with other languages, unusual locations and new audiences.
Contact Zones @ Rome aimes t being a multi-discipline, multifaceted and “crossbred” entity, welcoming in a mutual dialogue different artistic practices, ranging from contemporary scenic arts to contemporary visual arts such as theater, dance, site-specific performing, music, video-making, street art.
Contact Zones meets Attraversamenti Multipli 2015 going through it and offering two site-specific performances created for Contact Zones by two international ensembles, and three site-specific performances / actions / happenings of Italian artists, created specifically for Contact Zones and the host locations. The events are staged in the outdoors section of the festival, which takes place in the uptown and popular neighborhood of Rome’s Quadraro, between October 8 and 11.
The 2 international site-specific performances are created via 2 artistic residences of the 2 European ensembles involved, which will take place in selected areas of Quadraro. During the residence, these 2 ensembles will host 2 workshops, open to professionals and also the general citizenship. The workshops will entwine their efforts with the 2 residences and with the setting up of the 2 site-specific performances. The participants to the workshops will be actually involved in the performances / actions.
A further “contact area” is the urban video box by Contact Zones, which will go through all the artistic events of the 8 days of Attraversamenti Multiply and gather the voices and concerns of the audience and citizens it will meet on its path, raising questions on the subject of the “ideal city”.
Contact Zones @ Rome creates areas of active involvement of the audience through:
– using the blog and social networks as a “virtual square”, a place where spectators can interact
– the Under 25 multitasking project, which will involve a group of youths under 25 years of age, as active observers and multitasking narrators of the project’s steps
– the programming of artistic performances and actions co-produced by the project and including in their design dynamic residences and workshops interacting with the places and the citizens that live there.
